Preserving Food

Just got this book in today called Preserving Food without Freezing or Canning by the Gardeners & Farmers of Terre Vivante .  It is based on French articles and translated into English.  It has stated that food preservation can be divided into 2 categories:  modern techniques and ways that can enhance the life of the food.  It also talks about trenching which can allow vegetables to stay planted but at the same time protected from frost, preserving in a silo, root cellars, at room temperature, and drying.  Page 183 starts the section that tells you the best way to preserve each food, a basic way and an alternate way, for example, the basic way to preserve grapes is drying while the alternate way is vinegar.  On Amazon.com out of 50 reviews it has 4 stars, which is one reason that helped me decide to buy it.  Like I said I just started reading this today but jumped around a bit and it does seem interesting.  So if you believe the economy will crash, then this information would be good to know or if you just want other ways to preserve food.  Here is the Amazon link:    http://www.amazon.com/Preserving-Food-without-Freezing-Canning/dp/1933392592/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1327968608&sr=1-1

Been a while

I have gotten a bit busy and allowed myself to not pay attention to the blog like I should have…I am trying to prepare for what is coming and been trying to read a bit more and I have gotten into reloading ammo recently.  I will do my best to blog again and for those that read them I hope they help in some way.
